The Reception classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Your child will mostly be taught through games and play.
The areas of learning are:
- communication and language
- physical development
- personal, social and emotional development
- understanding the world
- expressive arts and design
We plan the children's learning by using the Development Matters document to guide each child's learning journey. Click for more information Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
We follow the National Curriculum 2014. See it here.
The National Curriculum has been planned across Year One and Two in order to ensure progress. Each subject has a clear intent and a map of the progression of skills that runs alongside the subject, building across the year groups and Key Stage. This is all taught under a broad topic that helps to scaffold the learning. These topics can be found on the year group pages.
Below is the link to the National Curriculum objectives that have been mapped out over the academic year for Year One and Year Two.
