Lunches

“School lunches are nice and healthy. They are so tasty! School lunches often include my favourite foods. I love Friday lunches – they are a treat! The food is so nice!”

DVIS Pupil

Our school dinners have been faithfully prepared on site and served for many years by Adelaide Lawson, our cook! Ingredients used are fresh and, on the whole organic, and the menus follow the Children’s Food Trust guidelines for school meals.

All children have their lunch in the hall in the Lake Building and are supervised by a great team of Midday Meals Supervisors (many of whom are staff from within the classes). After their lunch the children go out to play in the playground in the Lake Building.

Southwark now offer all children at school a free school lunch. The majority of the children at the infants’ have school lunches however children are welcome to have a packed lunch brought in from home instead.

2023 FSM Appication Form

It is important to the school that if you are eligible for this free entitlement that you register. The Government gives funds to schools to help children from lower income families do their very best. This funding is called a ‘Pupil Premium’.

For every child registered, we will receive £1320 this year.

With this money we could pay for additional small group work to help children who are not making as much progress as they could do. The group work could focus on reading, writing and maths, speech and language therapy, or occupational therapy.

If you are registered for Income Based Free School Meals you could also get help with the cost of school trips and after school clubs.
