The main aim of our School Council is to make DVIS an even better place. We want to do this by giving the children the opportunity to have their thoughts, feelings and opinions heard and know that they count.
We are your School Council. Our job is to be the voice for the children.

We meet regularly to work on different ways to improve our school. We listen to our classmates and make sure that we represent the whole pupil voice when making changes.
If you can think of things we can do to make our school an even happier place, please speak to us and we will make it happen!
We pride ourselves in helping to make our environment a better and healthier place to leave a legacy behind for the next generation. We have integrated environmental education into our curriculum so that across the school children learn about issues such as Energy, Biodiversity, Waste, Litter, Healthy Living, School Grounds, Water, Transport and Global Citizenship.
All members of the school are involved in our eco-work although we also have a democratically elected, dedicated team of 9 Eco-Councillors and a teacher who, through open discussion during lunch time meetings, decide which environmental themes they want to address and how they are going to do it. We also have dedicated Eco-noticeboards which highlights our latest topic.
Our activities focus on learning how we can care for our world starting right here in school. Some examples include litter picking in our local environment, making birdfeeders from recycled materials or apples picked from our tree for our playground, encouraging active travel to school and raising awareness of and tackling plastic and energy waste at school and in our homes.
If you have any questions or suggestions for environmental projects, we could take part in please let us know.
