Our Community

LOVE DVIS days

Every term the school community comes together to show love in action! The aim of the work party is to get together to carry out practical tasks around the school and literally love the school! Jobs might include gardening, painting, fixing, up-cycling, window cleaning, sorting resources, making resources and having fun whilst doing it! It rings a great sense of community, pride and satisfaction with a job done well!

Community Links

St Barnabas

The School works closely with St Barnabas – both the School and Church have the privilege of working with numerous families in the local area.

Food Bank and Donations

At DVIS we hold regular food bank collections for Southwark Food Bank and Barry House – a home in East Dulwich for those awaiting to be assigned a more permanent home.

Kings College Hospital

At DVIS we have built some good links with Kings College Hospital in Camberwell. We have taken Year 2 children to the Butterfly Café to meet with patients and carers of those who live with dementia.

Link Age

Link Age Southwark is a vibrant local charity providing support to over 800 older people in Southwark who are feeling lonely or isolated. Their vision is for friendly local communities where older people and those living with a diagnosis of dementia can thrive in their later years.

As a school we want to be part of that friendly local community and seek to support where and when we can.

Safer Routes to School

DVIS encourages active travel to school. We know active travel has many benefits, it is a more environmentally friendly way to get to school and a great a way to start the day by preparing the mind and body for learning, improving overall fitness and mental health.

The Safer Routes to School group supports positive and safe ways to travel and seeks to understand problems and find solutions with support from schools and local councillors.
