Visits & Experiences
At DVIS we want to embrace all the amazing opportunities that are on offer in our community as well as further afield.
We believe part of the School’s job is to build and enhance the children’s cultural capital. We understand cultural capital to be a combination of the knowledge, interests and skills that the children bring with them from their homes and experiences, and the learning added to this through the school's curriculum and offer. The School has a carefully planned set of intentions for the school curriculum and also offers a wealth of experiences including trips and visits.
The cultural capital we offer runs as a thread through school life and the learning and teaching in all subjects. The breadth of visits adds interest, experience and depth to our curriculum.
Trips and visits we have taken in the past have included: Godstone Farm, Gatwick Aviation Museum, Dulwich Picture Gallery, Horniman Museum, London Buddhist Centre, Southwark Cathedral, The Science Museum, Brockwell Park Gardens, Kings College Hospital, The London Aquarium, The Tower of London, The London Eye and The Royal Mews to name a few.
Visitors to school have included: older members of the public for tea, parents who have shared their faith or language, authors, Police, musicians, illustrators, animals of all shapes and sizes and many more!
